May 2, 3, and 4, 2019, 7:00 pm
May 1 and 4, 2019, 3:00 pm
Locked up in a flat, an exuberant housewife makes her confession amid domestic chores, dodgy phone calls, a sex-mad brother-in-law and a forever screaming baby. Four exhilarating, irreverent women’s stories propel the audience to a shocking climax. Written by Franca Rame and Dario Fo at the height of the second feminist wave, THE FRANCA RAME PROJECT brings the political resistance onto the stage. Texts originally written in Italian find a new life when presented by five female and non-binary identifying people in English, with selected passages in French, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese. Tickets: $25
Home Audio
Saturday, April 27, 2019, 7:00 pm
Home Audio hosts monthly shows of experimental, new classical, electronic, and other music in Brooklyn. This month’s program features music from a characteristically eclectic combination of artists:
-Du.0, a feminist-gesamtkünstwerk-chamber-noise violin duo
-Ethan Philbrick, whose music for cello, voice, and recorded sound doubles as a series of meditation exercises for living through the ongoing everyday emergencies of the present
-Vocalist Nina Dante and guitarist Matteo Liberatore, who unite classical training and experimental aesthetics together in their work
-The OM group, a collective of artists working in music, performance, and visual art.
Race and Revolution
Sunday, April 28, 2019, 2:00 pm
Race and Revolution: Reimagining Monuments questions the relationship between historical memory and historical monuments and the implications of the histories that remain absent. Sixteen artists respond to existing New York monuments or to sites they feel should have a monument. Alongside the artists’ work, quotations from historical documents about the corresponding monuments or sites open up dialogue regarding a need to re-examine these physical, selective sound bites of memory.
On April 28, Join Monica Montgomery and the Museum of Impact for an afternoon of engagement with The Gift Horse Game. The game is a scenario based, life sized interactive game and display where players choose their own adventure, deciding the fate of a contested monument and experiencing a variety of reactions and repercussions after each choice point.
